Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is a Soul Beauty Weekend similar to other women’s retreats?
No. This weekend is quite different from most women’s ministry type weekends offered by churches. As an initiation style weekend each element is designed to specifically lead participants into unique, transformative experiences.

Can friends, sisters, mothers and daughters attend together?
We would love for you to have honest discussions with all women involved before you register for a weekend together. We also recommend that you discuss your specific situation with Soul Beauty leadership to determine what would work best for each participant. We have seen beautiful gains when women who are connected do this work together but there are risks inherent in that choice that we address before registering you.

Can my teenage daughter attend?
We limit the age to over 25 years old. This weekend is not designed for what is appropriate to a teenage young woman's developmental needs. It has nothing to do with intelligence or capacity, merely that there are stages of adult development and even some women who are older than 30 are not ready for such a challenge to their identity.

Who attends these weekends?
Women who attend the weekend are willing to do whatever work is necessary to honestly look at their lives and the things they don’t like about themselves. They have the courage to be vulnerable and the desire to be open to honest introspection and deep transformation.

I know women who have attended a Soul Beauty weekend. Why is it they will not share the specifics of the weekend?
Every element of the weekend is designed with intentionality. Each process and activity builds on each other. We believe not knowing what to expect keeps you in the present and outside your normal comfort zone. If they tell you something out of context, you will build an internal expectation or assumption that will not serve you if you attend the weekend.

Is it only for Christians?
No. We don't believe it's our place to evaluate where a woman is in her belief system and know that the work that is done is sacred in each heart and will be far beyond anything we could teach. It may be that Christianity itself as expressed in a church has been a wounding experience and so the thought of being offered time to pray and be with God may be a deterrent but wherever a woman is in her spiritual journey is welcome on the weekend.

Is the weekend counseling or group therapy?
No. The weekend is neither counseling nor group therapy. We are not licensed therapists.

Can I leave if I decide the weekend is not for me?
Your participation throughout the weekend is voluntary. You are free to pass on any activity; however, the weekend is designed to be challenging, and you will almost certainly experience times where you’d rather not participate. Change and growth often requires discomfort, and we believe if you persevere, you will be glad you did.

Is there a lot of physical activity?
Some walking is required. The weekend activities can be modified to accommodate almost any physical limitations. Please contact us to discuss specific situations.

What if I have dietary restrictions?
All food on the weekend is planned and prepared by the camp staff. We will do our best to accommodate specific needs within the capability of the camp. Please contact us to discuss your situation.

Please contact us if you have any further questions.
